Signs from Spirit

“Is this a sign?”
I get this question a lot from beginners in spiritual work, and I hope I’ll be able to explain this topic well. It may not be that straightforward since certain signs are rather personal, so you will have to exercise your own judgement as well. Otherwise, if you are still unsure, please get a personal reading from a reputable reader to find out more.
So, what’s the definition of a sign? In the context of spirituality, a sign is simply a message from the spirit world.
The types of signs
- Acknowledgement
After a rootwork spell is performed, we may sometimes receive one or several signs of this nature within 1 to 2 weeks. There are other practitioners who may suggest a longer timeframe, but in my personal experiences, I seldom have such signs happening beyond a week.
When we do get one, this signifies our request is heard and acknowledged by the spirits. It is a good thing, although it does not necessarily mean the results will manifest. But at least we know the spell has managed to reach the other side, and the spirits are working on the task. That—to me, is already half the battle won.
This type of sign is often brief and completely random. If the work involves a specific spirit, we will get the signs associated with him or her.
Examples of a sign:
Seeing a car decal with Archangel Michael’s image after petitioning the archangel
Seeing a pile of messy knotted rope after calling upon Our Lady Undoer of Knots
(Yes—this happened to me the moment I stepped out of my house after praying to her)
Dreaming of an affectionate target after doing a love spell
Being told a distinct detail of the spiritual work by someone who has no knowledge of it
(I once laid a spiritual trick on a red pen and placed it on my target’s table at my workplace when nobody was around. A few days later, I went over to my sister’s house, and my six-year-old niece walked up to me, pointed to the table, and told me that her mommy had placed a pen there. I asked her what color that was. She said red. Speaking of random.)
Children and animals are common messengers because they are easier to “manipulate”, so to speak. There are many other signs that I cannot possibly list all. The spirits can choose varied means to express a message, but you get the drift.
- Outcome
Sometimes, a sign pops up later to convey the result of the spiritual work that we have done, and this is more commonly for failures. Because, if the work is going to be successful, we would already have seen the progress in reality, and there is no need for spirits to send us a sign to tell us that.
- Omen
People with higher spiritual vibrations tend to get this a lot. An omen is unconnected to any of the spiritual work. It is a message from the spirits telling us about some impending event. It can be personal or universally related. I normally receive this kind of message in my dreams.
- Guidance

This can come in numerous forms. A very popular one is angel number. The spirits will typically show us a number repeatedly to guide us on the things we should focus on at the moment. Once we have achieved a milestone as per their advice, they may change to another number. Angel numbers act like mini signposts on our spiritual journey.
As for what exactly the spirits want us to do, the clues lie in the numbers. It will also depend on our current life situation. There was a period of time I kept seeing the number 34 while I was writing a couple of children’s books.
The number 3 represents creativity, and 4 represents practicality, telling me to continue bringing my creative writing to fruition. When I was finally done writing the books, I stopped seeing that number. In fact, the number 7 (3+4) kept appearing for a short period of time thereafter, signifying my accomplishment.
What is not considered a sign?
Many beginners tend to obsess over signs so as to validate their work that they start overthinking and believing regular incidents are messages from the spirits.
Examples of not a sign:
Listening to happy love songs being played continuously on the radio after performing a break-up spell to remove a third party. If this is a sign, for goodness sake, then it is a rather negative one in this situation.
Seeing an ad for Saint Joseph’s chaplet appearing on some online platform after googling his prayers and petitioning him. Nope, this is just Google using your prior search data, and you need to clear the cache (erm, does it help?).
If you are uncertain, just remember signs are both random and specific. Lastly, even if you do not get a sign after a spell, there is no need to despair. I’ve had full manifestations without seeing any sign and also failures with seemingly positive ones. At the end of the day, it’s all up to the spirits.
